MGMA Outlines Medicare APMs Advocacy Priorities

MGMA remains steadfast in our efforts to ensure the sustainability of medical group practices. After successfully advocating for the reinstatement of the Alternative Payment Model (APM) incentive bonus for performance year 2026, MGMA is committed to ensuring medical groups continue to have the opportunities and resources needed to transition to value-based care for years to come. Our newly released 2026 APM position paper outlines the background and development of APMs and includes MGMA’s advocacy priorities, including the creation of new voluntary, physician-led APMs.

MGMA Supports Policies Advancing the Next Generation of America’s Health Care Workforce
MGMA applauds the House Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health for convening a hearing on Advancing the Next Generation of America's Health Care Workforce held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Following the hearing, MGMA submitted a statement for the record to the committee, advocating for policies that expand graduate medical education (GME) capacity, modernize rural residency training infrastructure, strengthen workforce immigration pathways, protect educational financing, and reduce administrative burden. These policies will help ensure the sustainability of the healthcare workforce pipeline, particularly in rural and underserved areas, where shortages are most acute.

MGMA AI Position Paper
As artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and use by medical groups grow, so does policymakers' interest and engagement as they focus on critical issues such as innovation, guardrails, and potential new legislation. As outlined in our 2026 position paper, MGMA remains committed to ensuring that federal policies support the safe development and use of AI tools to improve operational efficiency for medical groups. We'll continue to work towards policies that encourage transparency and protect medical groups from liability.
